Match made in McQueen Heaven

Haute-fly may have hotly tipped Brazilian brand Issa to be designing the dress, yet it was the House of Alexander McQueen whose creation walked straight into the nation's hearts. Since the death of McQueen in February 2010, Mancunian Sarah Burton who had worked closely with the designer for 14 years, took the role as Creative Director.

Dressed in ivory and white satin gazar with a hand embroidered ivory tulle veil , the Duchess of Cambridge was simply stunning. The creation is romoured to be worth £40,000 and Burton was seen overseeing the final touches before Kate made her vow exchange.

Burton later commented, " Catherine looked absoutely stunning." It is reported that some members of the team were unaware who the creation was for until the final preparations were underway. Burton and the McQueen team also created Maid of Honour, Pippa's dress. The heavy ivory satin based crepe with a cowl neck gained Pippa many new found fans on facebook and catapulted her into the celebrity sphere.

The creation is set to be displayed in the upcoming weeks publicy so fashionistas and fans alike can observe the beautiful intricacy. In the upcoming weeks, high street designers will be sure to be hot on the trail to create similar copies of this classic couture.
