A National Treasure: A True Star Sapphire

British born golden age actress, Elizabeth Taylor today died at the age of 79. Surrounded by her family at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles, she is survived by her four children, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

A child star from the age of ten - take note Willow Smith- Taylor was praised for her portrayal of adult roles in films such as The Conspirator and sauntered through the box office with her breathtaking beauty down the decades, from the 1950s to 1970s. Yet it was her spectacular casting in Cleopatra which led to Taylor picking up the prestigious ' milion dollar a movie' pay cheque, a feat which is today often overlooked.

Her love affairs were well documented in tabloid tales, yet Taylor also had a great love affair with jewlery and fashion, being a favourite of Marc Bohen and his collections at Dior. Amidst her eight weddings, lost loves and trials and tribulations, Taylor launched 3 perfumes under the Elizabeth Taylor brand. In 2006 the 'White Diamonds' scent celebrated its 15th anniversary, after being voted the top 10 best selling fragance for more than a decade.

The last of the Golden Girls, Haute-fly gives a toast and tribute to this true star.
